China grants $100 million for military sector

 Chinese Defence Ministry has provided about $100 million as grant aid to Cambodia to develop the military sector, an official said. Defence Ministry spokesman General Chhum Sucheat said that Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe has announced to provide aid to Cambodia during the meeting with Defence Minister General Tea Banh on Sunday. Gen Sucheat said in a Facebook post that China has provided 645 million Yuan—about $100 million as an additional aid for Cambodian military sector. “Both sides are committed to building a stronger mutual relationship, especially Chinese friend having granted 645 million Yuan as an additional aid to Cambodia to serve military sector,” he said. “This aid is a kind heart by Chinese counterpart who made a pledge during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China,” Gen Sucheat said. Gen Wei is expected to visit Brigade 70 this morning, prior to meeting Prime Minister Hun Sen in the afternoon. Gen Wei will inaugurate the Cambodia-China Military Exhibition in Phnom Penh tomorrow.
